Burning and Earning: Running Skirts

by Rachel on June 4, 2009

I am a huge believer in treating yourself right when you achieve a health goal. I try to make the rewards as healthy as possible, because earning a whole lotta tiramisu for trying a new class at the gym seems a bit counterproductive. My personal rule for rewards is that they come no more than once a month; reward yourself too often and they lose some of the fun!

I realized this week, as I collected my laundry, how badly I need new workout gear. I decided this would be my reward for achieving my summer boot camp goal. Now that it’s summer, I am craving running skirts! This may make me “run like a girl,” but you know, I am OK with that! Running skirts take me back to my cheerleading days and also help me fantasize that I’m a tennis player (one of my secret wishes). They are way more flattering than shorts (but usually have shorts underneath so your milkshake doesn’t bring all the boys to the yard) and so feminine. They show off toned legs and are much cooler than pants or capris. They also are cute if you want to run some errands before you head to the gym but prefer not to rock Spandex at CVS.

Here are some of my favorite picks!

1. Adidas Synergy Skirt $32

2. Athleta Fitness Skort $43 (on sale yo!)

3. New Balance Bonita

4. Athleta Koko Run Skort ($49)

5. Nike Core Knit Running Skirt $60

6. Athleta Groove Skort $54 (my fave!!!)

Not pictured in slide show:

C9 by Champion Cardio Skort ($20 at Target, because Target is amazing)

Lululemon Run: Speed Skirt ($52)

Ok so you know how I quit crunch the other day and you told me I couldn’t buy a pair of new hard tails there? Does buying a running skirt and not actually running anywhere fall in the same category….?
