Press Play: Viva la Resolution!

by Rachel on January 1, 2010

Since today is all about a new attitude toward working out — whether it’s true or just a delightful myth — I decided to go with my favorite workout songs that are actually all about…working out! And a few about starting over/being awesome!!

[Fun fact: no matter how good the song is or how well it goes with the theme, you will never again see a Chris Brown song on any of my playlists or in my iTunes library. Shame you think it’s OK to beat up women, buddy, cause there would have been a good one this week.]

[Side note: can anyone tell me who Justin Bieber is and why the fuck he’s famous?? I know this makes me seem old, but I’m legit more confused by this than the “Twihards.”]

OK, sorry for the distractions. Here’s your music, furbies!

Speed of Sound (Coldplay) *One of my fave warm-up songs!

New Soul Power Remix (Lexxie)

Get Me Bodied (Beyonce) *Love this song cause it’s so LONG.

The New Workout Plan (Kanye West) *Love, love, love. Love also that this playlist now has two songs in it that reference your weave.

Work It Remix (Missy Elliott ft. 50) Put your thing down, flip it, and reverse it….and think of me every time you do!!

Rock Your Body (Justin Timberlake) *OLDIE BUT GOODIE. Love you, JT.

Hard (Rihanna)

Bulletproof (La Roux) *Listened to this on the way home from the gym today and got empowered for 2010 all over again.

Fresh (Kool and the Gang)

Work It Out (Nelly and Justin Timberlake)

New Attitude Remix (Patti Labelle)

Fresh (Daft Punk)

Imma Be (Black Eyed Peas) **I LOVE THIS SONG! Fergie, you are RIDICULOUS and I LOVE IT.

The New Year (Death Cab for Cutie) **Cool down song, and, yes, the title of my earlier post was a reference to this song!

Seriously, after reading all your comments and all your blog posts about the new year, I am SO inspired. I was thinking about it while running today. You guys and your goals are so BA and I just love it! I really love this playlist…I hope if you did make a fitness goal it really gets you inspired and pumped up.

Now go enjoy the rest of the first day of the best year ever!

I didn’t like “Get Me Bodied” until I kept hearing it. Good thing I have friends with great playlists! And is it okay to say I was in middle school when “Fresh” by Kool & the Gang was popular? God I’m ancient! :D Oh, I’m 100% with you on the Justin Bieber thing. First heard of him on TMZ, some lame intro of Leave it to Bieber and I was like, huh? click. Now to set the alarm and do some pilates in the AM. Not sure why, but I love pilates [must be the abs thing, I love working abs].
