As I said on Monday, the Flat Belly Diet had me hooked at this recipe. I simply had to make it immediately. I’m sure you understand. I deviated slightly from their recipe, but the Dairy Queen sentiment is still all there.
1/2 cup oatmeal, dry
1 cup water
1/2 banana, sliced
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 tbsp walnuts or peanuts
1/2 tbsp dark chocolate chips
Optional: dollop of yogurt for “whipped cream”
This Is How We Do It
Bring the water to a boil and add the oats. Cook on low, stirring occasionally, until the oats have reached your desired consistency.
While the oats are cooking, place the frozen strawberries in the microwave and heat for about a minute and 15 seconds, until they are warm and mushy. Roughly slice.
Stir the peanut butter into the warm oatmeal and place in bowl. Top with banana, strawberries, chocolate, and nuts.
If you don’t want to eat this, I think there’s something wrong with you…
Seriously, the smell of the warm strawberries made me feel like I was in an ice cream shop. You mix it all together and it’s sweet and savory and chocolatey and such a great breakfast.
Plus it’s got tons of MUFAs up in there!
There are so many variations you can do with this too. You can use banana-flavored instant oatmeal. You can put some frozen cherries in the mix. You could use pineapple fruit preserves. I also tried doing it with a thawed fronana and all that banana goop gave it an awesome banana flavor. This just feels so decadent but it’s hella healthy — can you even think of a healthier way to PMS eat!?
Another week, another way to pimp your oats!
