Health Blogger Playdate Part II

After shopping hardcore all day, Leah and I decided to have a more chill dinner. We had planned to go out to eat but neither of us were hungry for a big dinner out so we decided to cook again. I was really in the mood for a fruit and cheese dinner, so we did something I haven’t done in a year — “The Feast.” My old roommate and I used to do The Feast every couple of months. We’d go to Whole Foods and get really good cheese, some kind of fruit, a green vegetable, bacon, and something carby, plus a bottle of wine. It doesn’t take a lot of cooking and it’s just light and wonderful.

Leah and I feasted with bacon, green beans and kale, strawberries, brie, goat cheese gouda, truffle oil popcorn (another exciting new recipe I’ll post this week) and a bottle of Malbec.

This is a great meal to have with your girlfriends before going out because it’s so light but so good. Doing dinner like this is like eating all of God’s food gifts to the world. Afterward I was so satisfied and so happy; it was like a post-foodgasm afterglow. I wanted to snuggle with the food and have pillow talk.

I was also pretty nicely tipsy when we headed out to the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase to see Gary Gulman’s stand up. We each had a Long Island at the show because they were huge (and delicious!). By the time Gary came on, I was officially drunk and very happy. His routine was great. He was on Last Comic Standing and he is just really attractive (he’s Jewish, so…yeah). Comedy is one of those things I need to go watch more because I always have such a good time when I do!

After the show we went back to Leah’s and got back into the truffle popcorn and then watched Katt Williams’ and Chris Rock’s stand-up DVDs in bed. In between popcorn and LOLs, I texted with a long-distance guy friend of Leah’s who she recently introduced me to. Despite the fact that he lives in Houston, he’s begun referring to me as his future wife and I’ve decided that I might, in fact, go ahead and mess with Texas.

We fell asleep pretty early which was good because I didn’t want to feel like crap today and, luckily, I didn’t! No hangover, no real tiredness. I wanted a carb first thing so I just had a pear with some nut butter. We walked to get coffee and then just kept on for a 45 minute walk around campus near Leah’s apartment. After working up an appetite, we had leftover fritatta Leah had cooked last week and some strawberries for brunch.

My sleepiness is setting in now so I’m sipping on some Honest Tea to revive me and then I am going to have a quiet afternoon with the new Shape and Self mags. I’m feeling all drowsy and cozy and happy; this was pretty much my perfect weekend in every way possible!

What did you guys do? Any LOLs, feasting, foodgasms, or loss of virspinity?

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Oh, and if you want to mess with Texas, I suppose we’ll allow it. :)

Those are my favorite meals – I could really live off of fancy cheese and fruit and wine. Ingenious move adding the bacon, though. I’m gonna have to try that one!

Your feast with Leah is more romantic than any meal I’ve eaten with a male in the past… hmm, year?
