All You Need is Love

by Rachel on April 26, 2010

Everyone says I date like a guy, but I guess I blog like a guy too because you know what? I never say “I love you” enough.

And I really, really love my readers.

Seriously, you guys…I love your comments and I love when you e-mail me…I love when you Tweet cool articles at me and I love when you send me mp3s of dirty rap songs you know I have probably never heard before. (Hands down the best moment in my entire blogging experience.) I love interacting with you guys. I know I don’t respond to every comment and I SHOULD because they crack me up and make me think and honestly, make me feel incredibly grateful that we can have these conversations. So, going forward, I just want my blog to feel like more of a conversation! If I ask a question it’s because I’m interested. I don’t consider myself an “expert” in the sense that I still believe there is so much to learn and do and try and the best way is from other people. I think that’s why I loved sorority life so much — because there were constantly women who inspired me and got me more passionate about things than I already am. (Which is like, too much sometimes, I just sometimes feel like I could burst into flames. Sort of how I feel right now.)

So I say this a lot, but seriously, don’t lurk! Don’t comment just to comment (actually, please don’t comment just to comment, ew, gross) but just tell me more — tell me what you want, what you need, tell me what’s on your mind. I get so many ideas that way and I love when that happens. (Hello, Wet Wednesday?!?! And hello, why Wet Wednesday also includes sexy girls and not just guys!!!) It makes me blog better, and so really, you’re doing me a service, but then you’re doing everyone else and yourself a service too…so it’s basically like an orgy. And I like orgies. Everybody feels good!

I just feel like things have felt a lot more fun here lately, and I think it’s because you guys are making me want to make it more fun?! And it worked — so thank you!

Nothing in particular spurred this, but I have been doing a lot of writing for Hollaback and it made me realize how bloggers talk about getting readers, losing readers, whatever…and…I just realized that you needed to know. If you read often and “get it” and care, then you are a “reader” and I love you! And I don’t want to say, “If you don’t like it, don’t read it.” No. I want you to read. I want you to stay and so I want to get better. So thank you for making me want to step up my game. You bring it, I’ll bring it, and it will be exactly like Bring It On, except that I cannot dance.

See ya in the morning, lovies!

I love you!

Wordpress says this is too short of a comment. But it is just how I feel.

I’m a lurker, I admit it!

While I always link people to your posts and rave about your blog, I’ll admit that I’ve been acting like bad boyfriend too. I promise to comment more! XOXOXO

Hi Rachel, I’m coming out of lurker mode. I’m not here to promote my blog, I promise! I just thought I’d let you know that I truly appreciate everything you do here. Your enthusiasm is fantastic and I can tell you’d be so fun to hang out with. Keep on doing what you’re doing, you rock!

I don’t comment on my favorite blogs as much as I should. As it is, between email, blogs and Facebook I spend way too much time online every evening. If I were to comment on every blog I read, I’d have to give up sleep.

Mostly I just don’t want to post for the sake of posting. If I have something to say I’ll come out of lurk mode to say so, but I’m not going to leave a comment saying “that oatmeal looks delish!” just to win a bottle of juice or something, it just feels inauthentic to me.

Lisa — I TOTALLY appreciate not commenting just to comment. I hate that…so dumb. So I guess when I say “don’t lurk” I mean “don’t hang back when you DO have something to say.” Regardless I’m glad you said hey tonight!!

Hi Rachel – love your blog! And this post is great. I’m with Lisa – I definitely don’t comment enough (possibly cause I don’t have my own blog?) but I’ll try to start, especially when I have something to say!

I feel the love!! It’s amazing how close I feel to my readers and those that I read without having met. Yours is one of my favorites b/c you have such personality and I feel like we’re just two friends kicking it every day. You’ll never lose me :)

I just started reading, but sharing dirty songs with you makes me feel closer already ;)

If you write something that ‘clicks’ with an experience i’ve had/how i’ve felt, you can bet your ass i’ll holla back. If not, I’ll just hit ‘mark as read’. Regardless your blog always makes me laugh.

Hay gurl… you know that I think you’re hilarious and that I love the Christina Hendricks photos. Keep em coming.

You’re funny and smart and fantastic. I don’t comment as much as I should but I read every day! And I also talk about you with my partner Jess, who is amused by the fact that you are my “bloggie crush” (weird? creepo? oops) But Jess thinks you’re cute too so it’s all good.

YEAH!

Love, love, love the blog! One of my favorite reads!

Also, lurkily enough, I also always think of how my name is contained entirely in yours. Heh.
