Have you ever been knocked up? I haven’t, which is sort of a shame, because all these Mother’s Day gift guides are making me hyperaware of what I hope my kids buy for me. And then I’m like, Oh wait…shit. I need to buy a gift…for the hardest person to shop for! I kinda think moving out is a great Mother’s Day gift…but…I probably should pick up a gift card tomorrow just to be on the safe side. I mean…she birthed me! She reads my blog and loves me anyway!
And if she knew how to use an ipod, I’d totally put these songs on her list! (But hell, if she knew how to use Gmail, I’d be happy. She is who is keeping AOL in business.)
Hey Mama (Kanye) **I legit weep every time I hear this song.
Lil Mama (Big Tymers) **LOVE
When You’re Good to Mama (Queen Latifah and Taye Diggs)
Mama’s Room (Under the Influence of Giants) **Officially one of my top three fave songs of all time!
I Got It From My Mama (will.i.am)
Suga Mama (Beyonce)
Lil Mama (Lil Kee) **A lot of lils here…I’d love to see a show about rapping midgets called, “Lil People, Bigg World.”
Hey Mama (Black Eyed Peas) **This is my ringtone when my mom calls me!
Take Your Mama (Scissor Sisters) **Love them!
Mama Mia (ABBA) **A karaoke fave of mine…
Mama (My Chemical Romance) **I don’t usually like stuff like this but this is a good workout song!
Sexy Motherfucker (Prince) **Is this more of a Father’s Day song??
Mama (The-Dream)
I’ll leave you with the Kanye song…just try not to listen to this song and not think of your mom and not burst into tears. It’s nearly impossible!
Discussion for the weekend – Do you have any funny stories about your mom and technology? I love those more than anything! Listening to my mom talk about Facebook entertains me to no end. So…please share any stories if you have them!

Ha! Yes, I definitely have a funny story about my mom and technology.
Once, my mom asked me for help with a program on her computer. When I asked her what she wanted me to do, she said “I want you to get it up so you can do it with me!” By “it” she meant the window on the screen, of course. Naturally, however, as we both have dirty minds, we both burst out into giggles (my mom can’t say the word “balls” without laughing, by the way).
When Rachel was about five years old she told me that she would never leave me, that she would stay with me forever. It was very touching at the time…..but now, 20 years later, I am thinking she really meant it! :) *sigh* I’ll miss her when she moves out in a couple of months. For Mother’s Day, maybe just a matching pair of “Holla Back” Shocks would do it….lol.
Oh, too sweet!
My mom is classic. She runs a language learning lab full of complicated video/tech equipment at her job but still asks for help installing Adobe updates, thinks EVERYONE can see her Facebook, and was calling my sister asking how to use her new ipod for about a month until she figured it out.
My mom has asked me to make sure my “MyFace” account didn’t have too many drinking pictures. My aunt tried to teach my mom to text message, so once I got a text from her that simply said, “hi.” When I responded with a lengthier message, her lengthier response back looked like a blacked out college kid had gotten a hold of her phone… she doesn’t try to text anymore.
Your mom sounds like mine … a character. Which is probably why we are the way we are. My mom recently commented on my blog that “for the record, she made other things besides Hamburger Helper LOL – Ashley’s mom.”
.-= Ashley´s last blog ..Real women? Not quite =-.
