Press Play: Summer Date Night

by Rachel on June 4, 2010

A good playlist is a very, very important part of a good date. On those early dates, you’re just so psyched…plus you’ve got the weather and probably a fun plan to get you even more pumped. I went on a first date a couple weeks ago and this is a selection of my pre-date playlist. I need a few old school songs on there, songs that I listened to in the summer of 1998 when I had my first boyfriend who I dry humped like it was my damn job.

(Not much has changed since then.)

Lay Me Down (The Dirty Heads ft. Rome of Sublime) **The perfect summer date song as far as I can tell!

Dangerous (Ying Yang Twins)

King & Queen (Wyclef Jean ft. Shakira)

If You’re Wondering if If I Want You To I Want You To (Weezer) **So cute, I love this song!

Semi-Charmed Life (Third Eye Blind) **Hello, 8th grade boyfriend!

Yeah! (Usher ft. Lil John and Ludacris)

Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand)

@Lauren Conrad Get Us On the Hills (Super Mash Bros)

Walkin’ On the Moon (Ryan Leslie ft. Kanye)

Gimme That Nutt (Eazy-E) **SO ridiculous.

The Way I Live (Baby Boy Da Prince)

Caress Me Down (Sublime) **I never get sick of this song. Never.

That’s the Way We Get By (Spoon)

F**k Her Gently (Tenacious D)

You must, must, must end your pre-date playlist with Tenacious D and make sure it’s the last song you listen to before you see your date. You will be happy and bright-eyed and kind of laughing and he will just think you are so gorgeous and glowy, but really it’s because you were just screaming, “I’m gonna ball you discreetly!” and “That’s fuckin’ teamwork!!!!!” at the top of your lungs and now you’re going to go act like a classy lady and your date has no clue.

At least that’s how I nail my first dates.

(And by nail I mean “ace” but also it’s probably how I nail them too.)

(I do well on first dates.)

(Not “do” though…well not if he’s a Three anyway.)

Whatever. Have a great weekend and good luck on any dates!

This is brilliant. As soon as I have some money to splurge on iTunes, consider all of these downloaded.
