Obviously, I’m a big fan of making videos, and I’ve done a vlog about vlogging…but today I wanted to talk about another way to get yourself on camera. After all, you don’t have to be a blogger to utilize web cams!

You’ll definitely notice that this video is not like my others in terms of quality — it’s because, for the sake of showing you that you can look good on web cam, I actually used my web cam! (Normally I use a Flip.) YouTube compressions mean it’s a little blurry (hey, the better to hide flaws!) but I have to say, that when you do video chat, the quality is a million times better. Just FYI.
Doesn’t this make you want to v-chat?!

Thanks for the tips! And the inspiration…I have actually never thought of v-chatting with my girlfriends, even though none of us live in the same state.
On a related note, last week I tried my hand for the first time at making a video for the blog. Yikes, no one will be seeing that one! I’m chalking it up to experience and I did learn a lot…but seriously – scary.

Great video Rachel! I never thought about angling the camera/rearranging my relation to the camera before but it makes total sense! Do you use Skype when you V-chat or something else entirely?
It’s like you read my mind! I’m thinking about trying a video post.

@ Sarah — it definitely takes practice! I think we all have grand visions of ourselves until we actually do it!
@ Rachel Marlena — I use g-chat! It has a video feature that makes it so easy and I already g-chat with most of my friends!!
