Datecation Day #5: Hail, Caesar…and Ron Burgundy

by Rachel on June 25, 2010

The most perfect sorta-dreary Friday afternoon is currently underway!

This morning I was browsing blogs while working at Panera Bread and I came across Sophie’s recipe for Caesar Salad Turkey Burgers. Uh…done and done! After all, last night Eric and I talked for a good twenty minutes in the grocery store about our love for Caesar salads; I was pretty sure it would go over well. He approved.

So I went to Whole Foods and was pretty much dying of happiness the entire time. Like, Oh, hey, I’m just shopping for lunch ingredients to make a delicious meal for this guy I like. NBD. I’m pretty sure the workers at Whole Foods were like, “Why the fuck is that girl so excited about her hamburger buns?”

After Eric got out of work we spent a little time in the kitchen. Well…I cooked, he looked on.

(Are you happy now??)

To make things easier/faster/cheaper, I didn’t make the dressing from scratch; I decided to let Mr. Paul Newman make things a little easier. While I cooked the turkey burgers and baked some sweet potato fries, I sipped on some Firefly vodka and just wondered how the hell I ended up playing house in Texas.

Anyway, the Caesar burgers turned out pretty delicious!

Seriously, make these! It’s just a new twist on the pesto turkey burger recipe I love so much.

The plan was to head to the pool after lunch, but given the not-so-great weather and the food coma Eric and I both are currently enduring, we’re just spending the next couple hours watching “Anchorman.” Love this movie, but pretty sure we’re going to spend the rest of the weekend talking in the Ron Burgundy voice.

Like, right now I just can’t help thinking re: Caesar salad turkey burgers…60 percent of the time it works every time.

Have a great afternoon!

Both the boy and those burgers look tasty. I’m going to have to try the Ceasar recipe sometime. Glad to see you are having a great trip!

Firefly vodka? You should have served those burgers with “three fingers of Glenlivet, and a little bit of pepper… Oh, and some cheese.”

Have an awesome weekend.
