Friday Foodgasm: Grilled Romaine Caesar Salad

by Rachel on July 2, 2010

This foodgasm was slow and steady building. There was the grilled lettuce salad with potato croutons I had at Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor last month. There were the Caesar turkey burgers in Houston. There was the grilled coconut kale. There was a lot of foodie foreplay.

So…I fired up the grill and got out my veggie tray. Then I took some organic Romaine and broke off big leaves and brushed them with olive oil on both sides.

This doesn’t take long to cook at all, so pay attention to it! A few pieces actually got more done than I would have liked. A few minutes on each side is all it takes.

While the lettuce was grilling, I microwaved some small red potatoes and then cut them into chunks, buttered them, and let them cool.

When the lettuce was done, I topped the lettuce with a turkey burger and shaved Parm and then tossed in the potatoes and Caesar dressing.

This was definitely my most foodgasmic meal this week. Potatoes in salad might be the greatest thing ever, and I love grilled greens! They get just the right amount of crunch and flava flav. This is definitely going to be a summer meal staple.

Make, love, etc.

Ooh la la – looks divine! I saw Giada make a mean grilled lettuce dish one time. I’ve never had grilled lettuce before, but after seeing this post, I really want to try it soon! Have a great weekend! :)

If this doesn’t push me to grill lettuce, then I don’t know what will. Maybe tonight. If I get the propane tank refilled. But I know if I put it off Ben will do that for me because he needs it for brewing beer. Ah, the games we play.

Grilled romaine is soooo good. I had it at a restaurant once and was skeptical and then it was all love from there on.
