Oh, Sugar!

by Rachel on September 30, 2010

Some girls send their boyfriends texts detailing all the dirty things they want to do to them. “Lick this,” “I know how you like it,” etc.

I just send my boyfriend texts detailing all the dirty things I’m doing in the kitchen, and how I’d actually let him lick the beaters for once, because the batter is that good and I know how he likes it.

Some girls text their boyfriends close-up pics of their naughty bits.

I just text my boyfriend close-up pics of the cupcakes I’m baking for him.

And some girls most definitely get pretty loud when their boyfriends start doing all sorts of dirty things to them.

I just get so overly excited from the fact that I didn’t burn the cupcakes after the s’more brownie charring disaster that I actually start screaming like a tween meeting Justin Bieber.

What can I say? I’m not like the other girls.

As I said on Tuesday, I was in serious need of some cupcakes and, after reading all the fab suggestions, the wheels started turning and I started doing research.

The winner? Oh ya know…white chocolate cupcakes. No big deal.

When I texted Eric those pictures last night, I immediately got a phone call.

“Is this a booty call for cupcakes?” I said when I answered.

He said no, but he was over in twenty minutes, totally loitering around the cooling cupcakes and then, finally, an hour later, casually asking me when I was planning to frost them.

I told him that I’d be frosting them today, as they are for our date tonight, and I want the somewhat-complicated buttercream frosting to be super fresh.

Sexting is totally overrated; I highly recommend sending pictures of real treats.

So this afternoon, I have to get out my new candy thermometer to make the perfect frosting and then frost these babies all fancy and I’m rather nervous — I want them to look amazing!

Wish me luck! After all, I don’t want to be a cake tease.

Remember September

by Rachel on September 30, 2010

You guys know that I love October more than any month of the year and even though it’s a bummer that I’m not spending this month in Pure Michigan, I’m already looking forward to unabashedly displaying pumpkins on my desk and counting down the days until Halloween.

Last night, I was thinking about my October goals. I was thinking how I love goals and love October, so they needed to be pretty legit, and then I thought about how many people struggle with making goals. It takes practice to get better at making them (and even more practice to start keeping them) and helping people make and set goals is a big part of what I do with my coaching business!

So I was thinking that the beginning of my favorite month would be a great time to give you guys a special offer so I could help more people set and keep their goals!

The deal: for this weekend only (today until Oct. 3) I am offering a discount on my most popular four-chat package. It’s normally $120 for the four chats, but if you e-mail me and book before the weekend is over (we can schedule your first chat for whenever, so don’t worry if you’re going out of town tomorrow or something), it’ll just be $100. And since I know a lot of the people coming to me for coaching are in college, I am also extending a broke-ass student discount to all undergrad and grad students in need of a little motivation and guidance! Just let me know when you e-mail me that you’re a student and you can get the four-chat package for $80.

And I really do hope you e-mail me! I’ve been having a lot of great chats with the new clients I’ve gotten this month, working with them on everything from boys to blogs, and I love doing it. October is always my favorite month, but it’s quite often my best month too, and I’d love to make it yours as well!

Visit my coaching web site for more info on everything we can work on together and holler at me with questions or to set up your session!

If you don’t need any help getting October started off right, that’s fine as well. Just start thinking about your new goals — we will be discussing tomorrow, so don’t show up unprepared!

Have a great Thursday!

Honey, Honey

by Rachel on September 29, 2010

Seriously, it just doesn’t seem to be right eating a fruit the size of a newborn.

I’m tempted to buy one to carve and stick a candle in it a couple weeks.

Anyone else find this delicious fruit almost obscenely big?

Lesson #29: What to Do When You’re a Broke-Ass Ho in Need of Decent Vino for Your Fancy Risotto

September 29, 2010

Most of the time when I am trying to decide whether to cook a recipe, I look at how many ingredients it has and what I’ll have to buy to make it. I like simple, cheap ingredients: garlic, onion, maybe some regular old all-purpose flour. But when a recipe requires something I don’t already have [...]

This afternoon, taking a break from my work as That Girlfriend Who Cries All the Time and That Girlfriend Who Blogged About a Big Fight and Almost Didn’t Live Long Enough to See the Make-Up Sex, I decided to break tradition and catch up on wedding blogs on a Tuesday, not a Friday. I want [...]

The 14th Rule

I love, love, love nice beauty products but I also have a rule when it comes to them… Nail polish is too pretty and tempting; you have to set rules for yourself when it comes to all the shiny, happy bottles winking at you. My rule is that nail polish over $12 is a special [...]

Booty Call

cowboy boots

Despite everything, there was one good thing to come out of this weekend… Well, they are, technically, booties. They only come up a little bit past my ankle, making them infinitely more urban and cool than traditional cowboy boots. (At least I hope.) Color me committed to Texas.

Lesson #28: How to Turn a Normal Girl and a Normal Guy Into That Couple

So, Caitlin wasn’t the only Houston visitor around this weekend! Eric also had a guest in town. Although I was really, really excited for Caitlin to come visit, I wasn’t too pumped about Eric’s friend. Because, Caitlin didn’t, you know, make out with my boyfriend in college and then announce that she was flying down [...]

Campfire Birthday Dinner

Well, the bad news is, I’m still on hold with customer support in Hell. The good news is, I got a nice spin in yesterday evening. As I said yesterday, Caitlin’s birthday dinner was campfire-inspired. I had been planning to make s’more brownies after seeing them on Jacob’s Kitchen. And what else do you eat [...]

Friday Foodgasm: Girl, Put Your Apron On…

Yesterday was a very, very long day, and it ended with a very long session in the kitchen (not that I have any problem with that)! After running a million errands, but before hitting Eric’s happy hour, we went to HEB to get all the groceries I needed. I have a very big food weekend [...]
