I’ve Got Balls

by Rachel on October 4, 2010

Meatballs, that is!

Last night I made these super-easy meatballs to eat during my date night with Eric. (And made them in my new apron! I ended up ordering the Bambi one from Etsy and then just bought a $10 seasonal one at Hobby Lobby on Saturday. I love that store, mainly because now Eric and I refer to it as “Hob Lob,” which makes it a whole lot sexier than the middle-aged ladies working there would like it to be.) We ate spaghetti and meatballs while watching “Friday Night Lights” (we started with the first episode on Friday night and are already obsessed!) and “Mad Men.”

It was a fitting dinner, given that I was feeling a bit ballsy after writing a post on Hollaback regarding an article from the November “Marie Claire” that alleges that all the best-known health bloggers have extremely disordered eating habits and approaches to exercise. The whole thing has the blogosphere talking and I was eager to put my thoughts out there. It’s a topic that I’ve thought about quite a bit, but didn’t really have the balls to write about until last night. I’m really proud to have started Hollaback for moments like these, when we need leadership and real discussion in this community. There are already a ton of insightful comments on my post, so go check it out and join in the conversation!

And please go do something today that takes balls. Even if it’s just spaghetti.

I love Friday Night Lights. Once I discovered it on Netflix streaming video, my life was over…until the episodes ran out. :)

i’ve heard that Friday Night Lights is amazing but haven’t made the jump yet. It is sitting in my Netflix instant queue, though.

also, completely miss your beloved “hob lob.” Oh, look. I have now found two things I miss about Texas. The other being all the little snow cone/shaved iced stands. They are fantasticly tastey.

The meatballs look great! Meatballs and homemade sauce are sort of my specialty. Sounds like you had a great date night!

I’m trying to decide things I want to say and do are ballsy or just bitchy. I’m leaning toward the latter, because I think I’ve just been in bitch-mode lately. Not to you or anyone “here,” just in general. Balancing ballsy/bitchy is my lifelong struggle.
That said, this post makes me want some MEAT. Or fake meat. Or just something meaty in general.

Ha, I think we all get into bitchy spells. Try to channel it for good, not evil.

Love the apron, and the balls, too!

Ok, so I know this isn’t part of the topic, but what color fingernail polish do you have on your fingernails in the pic above? Is it that splurgy-expensive one? Just curious! I have toyed with the idea of doing a dark color (or a color at all) on my fingernails, but I just can’t seem to pick the right one. Ugh!

Anyway, love the apron! I was just at Hob Lob last night in my home town….and OMG all the fall and halloween stuff is 50% off! I will probably be back there tonight….

It’s OPI Over the Taupe! Another favorite go-to…I get compliments every time I wear it!
