Project Tasteless Challenge #4 Winner

by Rachel on November 16, 2010

Last night, Eric and I sat down to judge the It’s OK to Come Early — the Holiday Spirits Challenge over dinner. And…spirits.

It seemed a fitting night to try the recipe from last week’s winner: Manon’s meatloaf! Even though I was already losing my sense of taste, this meatloaf was definitely a winner. Eric and I both loved it — you have to make it sometime!

After devouring our meatloaf, we got into the very difficult task of choosing a favorite. After reading all the entries, we declared “My Aunts Had Me Drinking Grain Alcohol as Young as Seven Which a) I Didn’t Even Know and b) Is Totally Normal, Right?” Christmas Boilo the winner!

I mean, Eric and I were debating going and buying Everclear at 8:30 PM on a Monday night because we were that eager to try it — you know that’s a winning recipe! I also really enjoyed Cindy’s tales of how much her family likes to drink. I want to make this as soon as possible because she said it can cure a cold, and at this point, I need all the help I can get.

Honorable mentions go to Sarah’s “Lemonade Stand for Grown-Up Girls,” Paige’s “The Restaurant Industry Killed My Spirit But Not My Love for Champagne,” Stephen’s “Don’t Pass Out Until Barry Manilow Sings ‘New Year’s Eve'” Cocktail, and Chandra’s “Surprise! Butt Sex” shot. I don’t like NYE much, but I loved all the NYE cocktails!

Honorable Mentions for the Approaching Holidays: Angela’s “God Help Me I’m Related to a Bunch of Nuts” Pecan Pie Martini for Thanksgiving and Stephanie’s Candy Cane Swirl, Jaclyn’s “You Can Seriously Put Anything In This and It Will Taste Amazing” White Hot Chocolate, and Margot’s “What Santa Really Needs for Christmas” Drink. I definitely cannot wait to try these out!

And, once again, all the entries were funny, smart, and creative. Read the rest here…

Euince’s “Santa Never Came Down My Chimney So I Snuck Into the Liquor Cabinet” Pisco Sour

WATERWATERWATERBOYSSEXALONE’s “About-to-be-Blindsided-by-the-Misery-and-Solitude-that-Await-Us-in-Adulthood College Graduation” Gin Bucket

Tenecia’s “Holy Crap It’s April and We’ve Hit 100 Degrees” Michelada

Allie’s “We Stole Your Children, Tried to Eradicate Your Culture, & Homogenize Your People…We Said We’re Sorry So Let’s Live and Let Live Over Dirty Poms”

Lisa’s Hearts and Hurling Prevention

Manon’s “You Disgust Me So Much If I’m Not Drunk I’ll Use You As a Speedbump Because I’d Rather You Be Dead Than Related to Me” Chocolate Raspberry Martini

Carolyn’s “At Times I Wish My Parents Drank” Ginger Spiced Lemonade

Laura’s “I Get No Presents For Three Kings Day or My Birthday Because Of Gift Fatigue, But At Least It’s a National Holiday and I’m in the Tropics” Guava Daiquiri

Rachael’s “Get Down With the Veil” Coconut Chiller

We only have two challenges left! Check back tomorrow for the next challenge and thanks to everyone who entered this week!

I would venture to say that this round of titles is even more awesome than the last.

The explanation of how to say “Surprise! Butt Sex” correctly is one of the best things I’ve read on the Internet in a long time. “It’s rude to get someone’s name wrong.”

I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s totally true though, we made sure people were saying it right when they ordered or drank it. lol

I was so sad I couldn’t participate in this one; I got back from my vacay late Sunday night. I had already planned out my “Back of the Buzz Chocolate Martini” for MLK day :(

That is AMAZING. Eric and I actually said if anyone did MLK day, we’d declare them the winner.

I think I just got a buzz just reading through some of these. My inner alcoholic/binge drinker is doing a happy dance right now. These are great!
