The Visitor from the North

by Rachel on December 8, 2010

“Oh, it’s so not December here.”

This is what my aunt Kara, who is visiting me from Michigan, said over and over again last night.

Finally, someone who understands my inability to believe Christmas is coming! (Uh, I haven’t bought gifts or booked a flight home yet…I keep thinking it’s still two months away.)

I picked her up from the airport after work and we went for an amazing run in Memorial Park, went out for dinner, and then did a little shopping (she wanted the “Merry Christmas Ya’ll” cowboy boot hand towels that I had sent home to my mom a few weeks ago). After that, we headed out Eric’s way and he met us for her first tart yogurt experience (she’s addicted and already wants to go back today). And then we took our yogurt and we wandered around the Sugar Land Town Square and played “Find the Menorah.”

Last night was really fun — I had forgotten how good it is to have a visitor from when you’re in a new place. We’ve already been up and and at it today and we have a busy, full day planned so I’m off. Have a great day!

I just got an email from southwest saying that today is the last day of their winter fare sale if you still haven’t booked. I don’t know if they fly from your airports, but it could save you some major cash!

When your guest leaves, remember you have a friend in me, who thinks it is June and hasn’t bought more than one gift yet.

Enjoy your day!

Wanna trade places? I have been slipping on ice all week in Chicago… I would love to be somewhere warm right now!!
