As soon as I woke up this morning, I felt happy because I realized it was the first day of my favorite month of the year! I don’t know what it is about October, but I always seem to enjoy every single day of it. I’m also thrilled because it’s starting to feel like fall in Houston. I mean, at 80 degrees, it’s not exactly sweater weather, but it feels distinctly cooler and more like fall today and it’s wonderful.
I’m ready to go into full Halloween planning mode! First, I finalized costume plans yesterday. I tend to plan my costumes a year in advance and this year is no exception — I had this idea during the Halloween party last year and it’s still at the top of the list. Eric and I are going as a bull in a china shop. He’ll be the bull and I’ll be the china shop (although the reality is, I should probably be the bull). My mom and I talked this morning and she’s going to make him a bull costume from scratch; unfortunately, since we’re in different states, it would be a pain for her to make my entire costume. I’m bummed, because all her costumes are amazing, but I’m going to buy a dress to serve as the basis of my costume and she’s going to turn it into a china shop. I’m going to need a lot of teacups.
October also means adding to the decorations I bought a few weeks ago, perhaps with some cool pumpkin decorations like these, which I love.

I’m also ready to start thinking about my favorite Halloween party foods! Here is a list of my favorites from the past two years:
Halloween Party Recipes
Naked Pumpkin Chili (You’re naked, not the chili)
Halloween Party Treats
I’m off to go enjoy more of this beautiful October day — hope you have plans to do the same!
