During the big moving weekend, Eric and I were at Home Goods when we came across this amazing product.
When an infomercial product such as this is on sale for $12.99 and is the only one in stock, you don’t ask, “Why?”
You ask, “WHY NOT????”
The only real question we had to answer was whether to keep the S’More To Love
for ourselves or save it as an awesome birthday gift for Preston. We decided we’d keep it for ourselves and if we liked it, we’d try to track one down to give to Preston.
Last week, we took it out for a spin. You can use the S’More to Love in on the grill or in the oven, but I figured this was a perfect first assignment for our new toaster oven.
First, you load it up with the proper ingredients…
Then you snap the lid shut and flip it over. The s’mores are secured nice and tight…I felt like they were about to go on a roller coaster ride.
And then you toast them WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT HAVING A CAMPFIRE.
(I seriously LOVE infomercials.)
And then you have dessert!
My goal in life is to have enough money to be able to try every single “As Seen on TV” product and know for sure if it’s as awesome as they say it is. I’m going to go with pretty awesome on this one, although no where near as useful as the Magic Bullet. That thing seriously needs to be in the “As Seen on TV” Hall of Fame.
Every time I want to make a new recipe, I become very aware of how many kitchen gadgets I left behind when I moved to Texas.
Last week, I decided to check “rolling pin” off the list of things I still need!
I’ve only used one rolling pin in my entire life: my grandma’s wooden rolling pin. But I was flipping through a magazine recently and I saw mention of a silicone rolling pin. It sounded genius to me, but I had no idea if this was a common thing or if I was going to have to pay $40 at Williams-Sonoma to get it. And furthermore, I was rolling my eyes at the whole idea of buying a new rolling pin in general. I knew nothing of the rolling pin market, but I certainly wasn’t looking forward to spending $20 on something that I wouldn’t use that often and that I don’t consider exceptionally sexy as far as kitchen gadgets go.
However, I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did Target have the silicone rolling pin, but it was only $10.
So you put it in the freezer first to get it nice and chilly and then you get — to quote the Big Tymers — your motherf*ckin’ roll on.
This thing is pretty amazing. With the wooden rolling pin I’ve always used, I’d gotten in the habit of flouring the pin, the dough, and myself until the kitchen looked like a coke den. But with this, I needed minimal flour because the dough didn’t stick to the pin.
Life-changing.
Plus, that thing has enough weight that it could totally be used as a weapon — something that increases a kitchen gadget’s rating exponentially in my book.
Anyway, I need you to get one, like…now. I also recommend while you’re out, you get some butter, milk, and a half-pound of ground sausage. Tomorrow, I’m going to show you how to make homemade biscuits and gravy for your weekend brunch and you’re going to want to be ready to um, roll out!
You guys know that my favorite kitchen gadget of all time is the Magic Bullet. I bought my first one two years ago and, well…I killed it. It’s been dying a slow and painful death from too much love and I knew it wasn’t going to last the week. So I headed to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to buy a new one on Wednesday (no time to even wait to have it shipped from Amazon!)…I didn’t want to risk a day without the MB!
It’s a good thing I was proactive. By yesterday morning, the original was a goner. I mean, I got my money’s worth. I melted the cord by leaving it on the stove a few times…and there may have been a lot of former smoothie and guacamole souvenirs encrusted in the base…it will be missed.
But I decided to welcome the new one with a great recipe!
Ingredients
1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder
1 cup iced green tea (just brew it hot the night before and then let chill overnight in the fridge)
Put it on the base, turn it on, and marvel at its speed and power. (Seriously, I didn’t even realize how bad the old one was!)
And if you call within the next five minutes…you get this amazing breakfast!
I just love this smoothie mix; it’s super refreshing for summer! It reminds me a little bit of the yummy tummy smoothie — just an unexpected and great deviation from what you’re used to!
I call it the “sparkling” smoothie because the honeydew really does give it a sparkly flavor (and the green tea adds a pick-me-up). The coconut oil and macadamia butter were two new additions that I added this time that worked out very well. You can also downsize the portions a bit for a great something-please-cool-me-off afternoon snack.
Whether you make your smoothies in the greatest infomercial product of all time or some silly blender, you should blend up this combination, because it’s delicious.
Good morning! Who’s having coffee? (I am. As I do every morning. Sorry I’m not sorry!) I love my daily coffee and am all about bringing more delicious to this morning ritual. A few months ago, I randomly tagged some special “cold brew” coffee maker in Lucky magazine, thinking I might want it to make [...]
Good morning and happy Thirsty Thursday!! Today I thought I’d show you how I solved my morning coffee/sugar problem. I’m pretty excited about this because my coffee is now sugar-free and fake sugar-free. It’s creamy without tasting like a Krispy Kreme. Just using whole milk was a good start, but I like the volume that [...]
Since I’ve embraced butter, I’ve found myself reaching for my box of butter several times a day (!!!) and it’s a bit of a hassle. I realized…I wanted an old-school butter dish! Since I love vintage cookbooks and vintage kitchen accessories, a vintage butter dish seemed like a given. The bigger reason, though, is that [...]
You know how much I love stuff that’s seen on TV (almost as much as my brother Preston does). Why? Because this stuff so often works! I mean, a lot of times, it’s ridiculous, and watching someone struggle to cook an egg in the microwave is laughable, but so often these products do solve real [...]
A lot of people close to me have told me I’m great at spending money. I concur. A few weeks ago, my friend Cara Binder was hesitating on buying the new Mac she knew she needed, so she G-chatted me. She knew I’d tell her to do it. In my defense, I only spend money [...]
Using fresh herbs is a great way to enhance the flavor and nutrition of your meals without adding fat or calories (or breaking the bank). Yes, I love what herbs can do…but I really despise nothing more than chopping them. I’m not very good at it, and I feel like it takes forever for me [...]
[I was planning to post this on Wednesday along with my fitness gift guide, but then I got SO carried away -- cause I love gifting THAT much -- I had to break it into two posts.} This year, I asked for a bunch of kitchen gadgets. I wasn’t super-specific, but I basically told my [...]
